Corrales Retires
Longtime Earthquakes captain Ramiro Corrales ended his career on a winning note, starting and playing 71 minutes in the club's 2-1 win against FC Dallas on Saturday. He walked onto the field before the game with teammates donning jerseys from his 18 years as a professional. When Rafael Baca called his name midway through the second half, Corrales was carried off the field on his teammates' shoulders. He retires as the all-time Earthquakes leader in starts, games played and minutes played.
Wondolowski Moves Up MLS All-Time List
Chris Wondolowski notched his 34th career game-winning goal in the Earthquakes' 2-1 result against FC Dallas on Saturday. That game winner moved Wondolowski into sole possession of No. 3 on the league's all-time list, three behind Landon Donovan and six behind Jeff Cunningham.
Wondolowski Leads MLS in Game-Winning Goals
For the fourth-straight season, Chris Wondolowski led MLS in game-winning goals. He finished with eight winners in 2013, two ahead of Chicago's Mike Magee. Wondolowski has 34 game-winners in his career, all of which have come since re-joining the Earthquakes in 2009.
Quakes Extend Unbeaten Streak to Seven
The Earthquakes extended their unbeaten streak to seven (5-0-2) with a 2-1 win against FC Dallas on Saturday. Including a pair of CONCACAF Champions League wins, the Earthquakes are 7-0-2 in all competitions since the end of August. San Jose's last loss came against the LA Galaxy on Aug. 31 at the StubHub Center. The Quakes have allowed just two goals during the unbeaten streak.
Home-Unbeaten Streak at 16
The Earthquakes are 11-0-5 since dropping their 2013 home opener on March 3 against Real Salt Lake. That stretch includes a 3-2 win against the LA Galaxy at Stanford Stadium on June 29. San Jose is 8-0-1 at home under interim head coach Mark Watson.
Salinas Notches Career High in Assists
Shea Salinas finished 2013 with a career-high eight assists, one more than his previous mark of seven from 2012. Salinas has 20 assists during his four seasons with San Jose, tied for No. 10 on the club's all-time list with current assistant coach Ian Russell.
Bingham Makes Season Debut
Second-year goalkeeper made his 2013 debut in the club's season finale on Saturday, a 2-1 win against FC Dallas. Bingham made seven saves in his fifth MLS appearance and fourth career start. He is 4-1-0 during that span.
Iron Man
The Earthquakes closed their season with one player who started all of their 34 matches: Sam Cronin. The center midfielder logged 2,971 minutes, playing a full 90 in all but one match.
Mr. October
No player has scored more goals in October than Chris Wondolowski. San Jose's striker added to his total with a goal in the club's 2-1 win against FC Dallas on Saturday, upping his career haul to 18 during the month. The next-closest total is 12 from Rapids striker Edson Buddle. Of those 18 goals, seven have been game-winners, four more than any other MLSer.
