San Jose Earthquakes News Release
The San Jose Earthquakes fell to Seattle Sounders FC 3-1 on Wednesday evening at PayPal Park and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-0 on Saturday night at BC Place. Saturday's result snapped an eight-match unbeaten streak on the road for San Jose, their longest such run in team history.
The Earthquakes are now preparing to host Mexico's Cruz Azul in an international friendly at PayPal Park on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased.
PayPal Park will also host an international friendly between Mexico's Chivas de Guadalajara and Club Leon on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased here.

The Earthquakes currently hold an 11-11-11 all-time record in international exhibitions, including a 1-8-4 record against Mexican teams.
Short History
Thursday's match will mark the second matchup between the Quakes and Cruz Azul, with the two teams playing to a scoreless draw on Oct. 13, 2018.
Championship Pedigree
Cruz Azul will enter the game as the reigning Liga MX champions. They have also competed in other international tournaments, most recently falling to the Columbus Crew in the 2021 Campeones Cup final.
It's Been a While
The Quakes will face a Liga MX club for the first time since hosting C.F. Monterrey on March 23, 2019. Then-15-year-old Cade Cowell scored the Quakes' lone goal in his professional debut.
Looking for a Win
San Jose will be seeking for their first victory against a Liga MX team since Sept. 6, 2012 (W 1-0 vs. San Luis FC).

Former Quakes player Rafael Baca will return to San Jose playing for Cruz Azul. Baca played for the Quakes from 2011-13, tallying two goals and nine assists.

Marcos Lopez called to Peru National Team for World Cup Qualifiers
San Jose Earthquakes defender Marcos Lopez has been called to the Peru National Team for three FIFA World Cup qualifying matches during the month of October. Peru will host Chile on Oct. 7 (6 p.m. PT) before traveling to Bolivia on Oct. 10 (1 p.m. PT) and Argentina on Oct. 14 (4:30 p.m. PT). Peru is currently in seventh place in CONMEBOL, with four teams gaining automatic qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the fifth-place team advancing to the inter-confederation playoffs.
George Asomani Undergoes Surgery to Repair Ruptured Quadriceps Muscle
San Jose Earthquakes midfielder George Asomani underwent surgery to repair a ruptured quadriceps muscle last Wednesday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Richard Gayle at Sutter Health. Asomani, 22, was a second-round SuperDraft selection by the Quakes in 2021. Asomani is not currently part of the team's active roster.
QUAKES ON LOAN
Gilbert Fuentes, Casey Walls at Austin Bold FC
After a bye week, Austin Bold FC returns to USL action on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when they host the Tacoma Defiance at Bold Stadium. Austin currently occupies sixth in the Mountain Division (9-7-9; 36 pts).
Thomas Williamson at Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC
Williamson started and tallied an assist in Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC's 3-2 road loss against Miami FC on Saturday. He has now tallied assists in back-to-back matches, recording his fourth USL assist on Saturday.
Riverhounds SC are currently third in the Atlantic Division (14-8-6; 48 pts). Pittsburgh returns to Pennsylvania to host the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 10.
Eric Calvillo at Orange County SC
After returning from international duty with El Salvador, Calvillo started and played 83 minutes in Orange County SC's 1-0 defeat to Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday. He has now made 18 starts in total 19 appearances for the USL club.
Orange County SC currently occupies third in the Pacific Division (10-9-7; 37 pts.). They hit the road this week to face the Tacoma Defiance on Saturday, Oct. 9 at Cheney Stadium.
ACADEMY UPDATE
The Quakes Academy faced Napa United and Real Salt Lake over the weekend. The Boys' U-13s (10-0) and U-14s (5-0) collectively outscored Napa 15-0 in shutout victories, while the U-15s defeated Real Salt Lake 1-0 and the U-17s fell 2-1 to the Utah side.
