Sporting Kansas City (15-6-7, 2nd place) enters the international break with back-to-back wins in the Western Conference, including a thrilling 4-2 victory over Houston Dynamo FC on Sunday at Children's Mercy Park. Club captain Johnny Russell scored twice and is one of four nominees for MLS Player of the Week. Supporters can cast their votes today by using the hashtag #VoteRussell on Twitter.
Sporting KC midfielder Gadi Kinda and MLS MVP candidate Daniel Salloi each provided a goal and an assist on Sunday and will now join their respective national teams for FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Europe on Saturday. Kinda and Israel will play at Scotland at 11 a.m. CT, while Salloi and Hungary will host Albania at 1:45 p.m. CT with both matches broadcast live on ESPN Plus in the United States.
The Sporting KC Show will air on Sports Radio 810 WHB from 6-7 p.m. CT on Tuesday with hosts Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Conall McCourt. Community Blood Center and Sporting Kansas City are teaming up to host a blood drive inside the Budweiser Brew House at Children's Mercy Park from 12-6 p.m. on Wednesday. Make an appointment online or by calling/texting 1-877-468-6844.
Sporting Kansas City II (4-15-8, 8th place) will continue their USL Championship campaign with two road matches this week, traveling to Memphis 901 FC for a 7 p.m. CT kick off on Wednesday at AutoZone Park before visiting Louisville City FC at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium. Both matches will stream live on ESPN Plus and fans can follow @SportingKCII on Twitter for in-game updates.
The Sporting Kansas City Academy will also be on the road this weekend as the U-14s, U-15s, U-17s and U-19s play at RISE Soccer Club on Saturday, followed by match-ups with Louisiana TDP Elite on Sunday. Fans can follow @SKCAcademy on Twitter for in-game updates throughout the MLS NEXT season.
