San Jose Earthquakes News Release
The Quakes return home for Decision Day against Minnesota United FC on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 12:45 p.m. PT at Avaya Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF. Should the Quakes win against Minnesota, they will secure a place in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.
The Earthquakes enter the game having earned a crucial road point against Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps FC with a 1-1 draw on Sunday, Oct. 15. Quakes midfielder Vako scored in the 77th minute to cancel out Vancouver's first-half score.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
"Win and we're in" With San Jose's draw against Vancouver and losses by both FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake, the Quakes have moved from eighth to sixth place in the Western Conference. A win against the Loons on Sunday would be enough for the Earthquakes to punch their ticket to the postseason for the first time since 2012. The Quakes can still advance to the playoffs with a draw or loss depending on the other results in the conference.
First Time at Avaya Sunday afternoon marks the second MLS matchup ever between the Earthquakes and Minnesota United FC. This will be the first time the two clubs will face off at Avaya Stadium.
Vako Stays Hot Forward Vako tallied the late equalizer on Sunday afternoon in Vancouver, helping the Quakes jump from eighth to sixth in the West. He has now tallied either a goal or an assist in each of the last three games (2g, 2a).
Shea Time Midfielder Shea Salinas has officially logged over 15,000 career minutes in MLS (15,080).
#AvayaCastle San Jose closes out the regular season with their last game at Avaya Stadium. The Quakes are 11-2-5 in their home matches this season, including both MLS and U.S. Open Cup contests.

RENO 1868 FC UPDATE
The Quakes' USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC finished the regular season with a draw against Sacramento Republic FC at home Saturday night (1-1). Reno has cemented the USL record for most goals in a single season at 75. Adding to this historic inaugural season, Reno forward Dane Kelly took home the USL Golden Boot with 18 goals and midfielder Chris Wehan was named USL Assist Champion with 12.
Reno 1868 FC are now headed to the USL Cup playoffs as the third seed in the Western Conference and will face OKC Energy FC at Greater Nevada Field on Oct. 21 at 5:25 p.m. PT.
QUAKES ACADEMY UPDATE
The Quakes Boys' Academy faced the Portland Timbers on Saturday at the U-15, U-17 and U-19 levels. The U-15s won 1-0, U-17s fell 3-1 and U-19s tied 1-1. On Sunday, the U-15s, U-17s and U-19s faced Seattle Sounders FC. The U-15s tied 1-1, U-17s fell 7-1 and U-19s fell 2-1. On Saturday, Oct. 21, the U-12s, U-13s and U-14s will play San Francisco Glens Evolution.
The Quakes Girls' Academy will have a two-week break and will next face California Thorns FC on Sunday, Nov. 5.
