SOUNDERS FC 2 WRAPS UP 2017 USL SEASON WITH 3-1 DEFEAT TO OKC ENERGY FC
Shandon Hopeau scores first professional goal in road loss; Rave Green finish 2017 campaign with 9-19-4 record
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. - Sounders FC 2 (9-19-4, 31 points) fell 3-1 to OKC Energy FC (14-11-7, 49 points) on Sunday evening at Taft Stadium. Midfielder Shandon Hopeau scored the lone goal for S2 in the final minutes of the match for his first professional tally. The loss marks the end of the 2017 campaign for Ezra Hendrickson's side.
The score remained 0-0 for most of the first half until OKC's Wojciech Wojcik opened the scoring with a left-footed strike in the 43rd minute. In the second half, the host side struck twice in the first 10 minutes on goals from Miguel Gonzalez and Jose Anguelo to extend its lead to 3-0.
S2 earned one back in the 84th minute with an impressive goal from Hopeau. The winger received a pass from Rodrigue Ele, maneuvered through two OKC defenders and then blasted a shot into the top right corner of the net.
