RENO 1868 FC UPDATE
Reno 1868 FC announced on Friday that the club has signed midfielder Mouhamed Dabo, pending league and federation approval. Additionally, Reno announced on Tuesday that the cub has exercised options on forward Corey Hertzog, midfielder Sam Gleadle and defender Yosimar Hernandez.
Dabo joins Reno 1868 FC from Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, where he spent the last two seasons. He recorded 35 starts in 48 appearances for Pittsburgh and led his former club in tackles in 2018 (80).
Dabo holds national team and European soccer experience, having represented Senegal's U-17 national team and playing in Inter Milan's youth system from 2013 to 2015.
Hertzog excelled in his first year with 1868 FC, matching forward Dane Kelly's record for regular-season goals (18), and setting a new franchise record in goals tallied in a single year (19). Hertzog, 29, is already second all-time in goals with Reno, trailing Brian Brown's record (28) by just nine goals. Hertzog's 2019 highlights also include USL All-League Second Team honors and USL Player of the Month honors for July. He was named Reno 1868 FC's Forward of the Year and Player of the Year.
Gleadle was a critical piece in helping Reno earn a third straight playoff berth. Gleadle tallied five goals and four assists in 2019 and was named 1868 FC's Young Player of the Year. Gleadle earned USL Team of the Week honors twice in 2019 (Weeks 15 and 18).
Hernandez will embark on his second season with 1868 FC in 2020.
Reno declined options on midfielders Will Seymore, Mattia Trianni and Marky Hernandez, as well as goalkeeper Damion Lewis.
