San Jose Earthquakes' Ousseni Bouda, Angus Gunn, Ronaldo Vieira Called to International Duty

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that forward Ousseni Bouda (Burkina Faso), goalkeeper Angus Gunn (Scotland) and midfielder Ronaldo Vieira (Guinea-Bissau) have been called to international duty for the upcoming window.

Bouda, 26, has been called up to represent the Burkina Faso men's national team for Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers in Group F against Benin on Friday, Sept. 25 at home, and on the road against Central African Republic on Monday, Sept. 28, as well as a friendly against Argentina on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Selected eighth overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft out of Stanford University, Bouda has appeared in 95 Major League Soccer matches (37 starts), recording 11 career goals and five assists in MLS play, with a career-high six goals and four assists in 25 games (21 starts) this season to date.

At the international level, Bouda has earned 14 caps for Burkina Faso, scoring two goals. He netted his first international goal for Les Étalons on Sept. 6, 2024, during 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying against Senegal, helping his country secure a 1-1 draw.

Gunn, 30, will join Scotland's national team for UEFA Nations League Group E matches against Slovenia on the road (Saturday, Sept. 26), Switzerland at home (Tuesday, Sept. 29), North Macedonia away (Oct. 3) and Slovenia at home (Oct. 6).

The goalkeeper joined the Black and Blue fresh off playing for Scotland in the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, where he started all three games in the group stage, earning a clean sheet as the team narrowly missed out on qualification to the knockout stage. A longtime starter for English side Norwich City (2021-25) and most recently a member of Nottingham Forest FC in the Premier League, Gunn was recently named to the MLS Team of the Matchday after making five saves in his 10th appearance for his new club to preserve a 1-0 clean sheet victory over Houston Dynamo FC last Saturday.

At the international level, Gunn earned his first cap for Scotland in March 2023, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Cyprus in a European Championship qualifier at Hampden Park. Since then, Gunn has made 25 appearances for Scotland, recording seven clean sheets, with his latest caps coming during his World Cup run this summer as their first-choice goalkeeper. Born in Norwich, England, with his father former Scotland World Cup goalkeeper Bryan Gunn, the shot-stopper featured for England at various youth stages from Under-16 to U-21 before making the switch to the Auld Country.

Vieira, 28, has been summoned to Guinea-Bissau's national team for AFCON Qualifiers against Tanzania on the road (Friday, Sept. 25) and Nigeria at home (Tuesday, Sept. 29).

The Bissau-Guinean joined San Jose late in 2025 from Italian club UC Sampdoria and has earned the team captaincy this season, leading all midfielders on the team in clearances from a primarily defensive role. Vieira has made 27 MLS appearances (24 starts), with 20 league games played (18 starts) this season. He recorded his first assist on May 9 in a 1-1 draw with current Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

At the international level, Vieira was born in Guinea-Bissau but grew up in Portugal and moved to England, where he represented the Three Lions as a youth international, earning a combined 16 caps at the Under-20 and U-21 levels, scoring one goal. The midfielder officially switched to Guinea-Bissau and made his senior debut with the Djurtus on Oct. 12 of last year against Egypt.

The Earthquakes return to action for their annual PRIME TIME rivalry match on Saturday, Sept. 19, against LAFC. Kickoff from Levi's® Stadium is slated for 4:30 p.m. PT, with the match to be broadcast on Apple TV (English/Spanish), as well as via local radio on KSFO 810 AM (English) and La Kaliente 1370 AM (Spanish).
