San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes are teaming up with Verizon for the third consecutive year to collect donations to benefit the Verizon HopeLine program. Fans can turn in old cell phones, cell phone chargers, and batteries at the next two home games at Buck Shaw Stadium and donations will be used to support victims of domestic violence. The Earthquakes face the Chicago Fire on Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. PT and the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. PT.
Fans that make a donation will receive a half price ticket voucher for the game and they will be eligible to attend a meet and greet with an Earthquakes player at the team's final home game on Wednesday, Oct. 20 against Chivas USA.
The Verizon HopeLine Program collects no longer used wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider, then refurbishes and activates them under the Verizon Network and distributes them to survivors of domestic violence.
