SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed forward Alan Gordon to a new contract. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The eight-year MLS veteran appeared in two games and scored one goal with San Jose in 2011. His tally was a crucial goal, equalizing against the Portland Timbers in the 67th minute at Buck Shaw Stadium on Aug. 6, helping the Earthquakes to a 1-1 draw. Before joining San Jose, he scored four goals and had one assist in eight games with Toronto FC in 2011.

"We're looking forward to seeing Alan fully fit and back in the squad. Both his ability on the field and his experience in this league will be an asset to our team next season," said Earthquakes head coach Frank Yallop.

Gordon has 22 goals in 118 career MLS appearances. He spent his first seven seasons with the LA Galaxy before a midseason move to Chivas USA in 2010. He won an MLS Cup with the Galaxy in 2005 and went on to have a breakout season in 2008, scoring five goals and notching seven assists in 26 games.
