Carson, CA. (Wednesday, January 11, 2012) Chivas USA announced today that the club has acquired Ecuadorian attacking midfielder/winger Miller Bolaños. 21-year-old Bolaños, who most recently played for L.D.U Quito in his native Ecuador, will join the Red-and-White pending receipt of his ITC and P-1 Visa. Per league and team policy, details of the contract were not revealed.
"Miller is an exciting young attacking player," commented Chivas USA Head Coach, Robin Fraser. "He's a good passer, good finisher, and good at running at people, definitely a special attacking talent and we certainly look forward to having him.
On August 29 of 2009, Bolaños scored LDU's 2,500 goal in the club's history during a 4-0 win over Liga de Portoviejo.
"He is a versatile player that was sought out by other international clubs. He really wanted to play here and we got it done," said Jose Domene, Chivas USA General Manager. "He will be a great addition to Chivas USA because he is a different type of player that is not afraid to take on people. Miller has a great shot and can play as a winger, attacking mid and second forward."
Bolaños, originally from Eloy Alfaro, Ecuador began his professional career at the age of 16 with Barcelona Sporting Club of Guayaquil. In 2009 he transferred to LDU Quito where he appeared in 93 matches 65 as a starter, where he scored 22 goals; both teams are part of the Ecuadorian Serie A, the highest level of soccer in the country. Miller additionally participated in the U-17 South American Championship in 2007 with Ecuador's National U-17's Team, where he figured in the 5-4 win over Brazil.
