San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today the club's front office will team up with Operation Care and Comfort and Lockheed Martin for a Military Blitz Day Campaign on Thursday, May 22. Through the campaign, companies and individuals can donate tickets to troops with the Earthquakes matching each contribution.
The entire Earthquakes front office will support the campaign throughout the day with Cosmopolitan Catering providing lunch for the staff. Additionally, representatives from Operation Care and Comfort will be on hand to help drive the campaign at Earthquakes headquarters.
"We have a strong tradition of recognizing the men and women of the United States Armed Forces at our games," said Earthquakes president Dave Kaval. "Between the great efforts of our goalkeeper Jon Busch's Saves for SEALs program to Chris Wondolowski's memorable salute-the-troops goal celebration during the 2012 California Clasico, our Military Appreciation Night celebrations have a special meaning. We look forward to having even more troops on hand for the 2014 edition of the California Clasico."
The Military Blitz Day Campaign is centered around the club's Seventh Annual Military Appreciation Night, which will take place on Saturday, June 28 when the Earthquakes host the LA Galaxy at Stanford Stadium (7:30 p.m. PT / NBC Sports).
Lockheed Martin will kick off the club's Military Blitz Day Campaign with a donation of 500 tickets to the United States Armed Forces and local military nonprofit groups. Lockheed Martin employees will also assist Earthquakes staff and players to distribute tickets for the club's match at Stanford Stadium at a local base and thank the families for their service to our country.
