SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC in their 2023 home opener tonight at PayPal Park, presented by Coca-Cola. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be streamed globally on Apple TV's MLS Season Pass, as well as on local radio via 810 AM The Spread (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).

The Quakes are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Vancouver (3-0-2), including a 2-0 victory over the Canadian side in their last visit to PayPal Park on Sept. 4, 2022. San Jose is looking to rebound from a 2-1 road defeat to Atlanta United FC last Saturday. The Quakes led for 80 minutes before conceding two goals from distance by eventual MLS Player of the Week Thiago Almada.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC opened their season at home last weekend, falling to Real Salt Lake 2-1. Vancouver is led by head coach Vanni Sartini, who is entering his second season at the helm. Among Vancouver's new players in 2023 are Venezuelan forward Sergio Cordova and Japanese goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka.

At halftime of tonight's match, the Quakes will celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the 2003 MLS Cup championship squad. Ten-thousand fans in attendance will receive a commemorative 2003 replica shersey.
