SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES INTERIM HEAD COACH STEVE RALSTON
On the match:
"It would not have been an Earthquakes 2018 game if it didn't end that way. It is just how the season has gone for us. I thought we actually played ok. I thought we played pretty well. We got a little bit of luck the way we scored the first goal. We maybe thought that finally luck was on our side, but at the end of the day, mentally we made a few mistakes and it cost us."
On the 2019 season:
"Obviously, we had much higher expectations coming into the season, and we have a lot to improve on. For me, it was an interesting few weeks, but it was a great experience and I'm thankful that the guys gave me everything that they had. That was nice."
On moving forward:
"I think we are still a few pieces away, but I do think we have some definite talent within the team. Especially some of the young guys that stepped up in the last month. They proved that they can definitely play at this level."
SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER JT MARCINKOWSKI
On the match:
"I am just trying to help out the team when I'm called upon. Obviously, it was a kick in the stomach at the end, but overall, I thought it was a decent game, especially in the first half. In the second half, we held our own a little bit, they were pressing and attacking. For the most part, I think there are a lot of positives to take away. I think it's time for the offseason."
On the positives from the season:
"Definitely a lot of positives to take away. We will look at it in a recap in the next couple weeks and look back. There were a lot of great things that happened. Obviously, as with the first team, not good enough results, but I'm really happy with my time with Reno. It really helped me a lot. Unfortunate for them last night, but at the end to make a few starts and help out the team, I thought it was great."
