San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes have received RSVPs from 4,000 fans that plan to watch Saturday's World Cup match between Mexico and Korea Republic at Avaya Stadium. The match will kick off at 8 a.m., in between Belgium vs. Tunisia at 5 a.m. and Germany vs. Sweden at 11 a.m.
Last Sunday, 3,000 fans were at Avaya Stadium to witness the Mexican National Team pull out a 1-0 win over defending World Cup champions Germany, who are a favorite to repeat for the first time since Brazil in 1958 and 1962. Mexico's upset victory is one of the most surprising results of the tournament so far and has them atop Group F with Sweden. A win on Saturday could see Mexico punch their ticket to the Round of 16, after just two of their three matches, should the Germans fail to win later in the day.
As with all 64 matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the match will be displayed on the large videoboard above North America's largest outdoor bar. A food truck, concession stands and the bar will be serving a variety of food and drink options for guests in attendance. Parking and admission are free, and complimentary coffee and donuts will be offered for the 5 a.m. contest. There will also be a FIFA station and face painters on-site.
