The Woodchucks had their first out of state game today as the took on the Kalamazoo Growlers in Michigan. After trailing early in the game, the 'Chucks attempted a come back in the middle innings with a pair of RBI singles from Nelson in the fifth and Fernandez in the sixth, but they couldn't close the gap and fell to the Growlers 6-2.
Starter Matt Walker struck out three in five innings of work, but some early stolen bases allowed the Growlers to gain a 2-0 lead in the first, and they didn't slow down.
Isaac Quinones scored the first run of the night on an RBI single from Payton Nelson in the fifth and Javier Valdes scored in the sixth on an RBI single from Michael Fernandez to bring the Woodchucks deficit to 2-4. Kalamazoo tacked on a couple more runs to win the game 6-2.
