Justin Nicolino (W, 3-2) helped the Suns earn the series victory on Saturday, picking up his third win of the season after allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits in 7.0 innings of work, while not issuing a single walking and striking out one batter.
Joey O'Gara allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits in 0.2 innings, with Jheyson Manzueta (SV, 1) picking up his first save as a Jacksonville Sun by recording the final four outs, including a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning.
After the Suns offense hopped on him early, Trevor Miller was saddled with the loss for the Generals, allowing seven runs (all earned) on eight hits in 4.1 innings, while walking two batters and striking out three.
The Suns wasted no time scoring on Saturday after batting around in the first inning, scoring four times in the process.
The Generals scored an unearned run on a fielding error by Alex Burg in the top of the third to cut it to a 4-1 Suns lead, but the Suns struck back with a two-run homer off the bat of Ryan Fisher (HR, 5) in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 6-1 Suns lead.
The Generals and Suns traded Runs in the fifth inning, with the Generals adding an additional run in the sixth to make it a 7-3 Suns lead after six innings of play.
Jackson's comeback attempt fell a run shy on Saturday night. The Generals plated three runs in the top of the eighth inning to make it a 7-6 ballgame, but had the game-tying run tagged out at the plate on a fine throw from Brent Keys to J.T. Realmuto to end the top of the eighth inning.
Joe Benson, Danny Black, Brent Keys and Ryan Fisher each had two hits in Saturday night's win.
