Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Beloit, WI - The Quad Cities River Bandits grabbed an early 2-0 lead, but never scored again as the Beloit Snappers evened the series with a 4-2 win on Friday night. Logan Farrar's go-ahead two-run single in the third inning represented the decisive blow for the Snappers.

The River Bandits (1-1, 44-24) grabbed the early advantage with a pair of second inning runs against Beloit starter Joe DeMers. Alex McKenna was hit by a pitch to open the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Cesar Salazar followed with a single to left and quickly stole second base to leave two runners in scoring position with no outs. Quad Cities grabbed a 2-0 lead on Trey Dawson's two-RBI double down the right field line.

The Bandits defense failed them in the bottom half of the same inning, allowing Beloit (1-1, 28-42) to pull even. After a hit by pitch of Max Schuemann put the leadoff man on, Devin Foyle put down a bunt in front of the plate. Salazar picked it up, but dropped the ball on the transfer allowing Foyle to reach and putting runners on first and second with one out. With Joseph Pena at the plate, Salazar tried to pick Schuemann off of second base, but the throw was low and skipped into center field allowing the runner to score. Jonathan Lacroix's throw to the plate sailed high to the backstop and that moved Foyle to third. Cobie Vance evened the score with an RBI double to the wall in left field before the inning came to an end.

The final offense of the game was provided by Farrar's hit in the third. Josh Jones and Anthony Churlin opened the frame with back-to-back singles and were bunted into scoring position by Lester Madden. Farrar reached out and slapped a 2-0 offering from Freure into left field to plate both and give Beloit the 4-2 advantage.

DeMers ended up going 5.0 innings and allowing two runs on five hits to pick up the win. Bryce Conley was dominant out of the bullpen, shutting the game down with 4.0 scoreless innings during which he fanned seven.

Jonathan Bermudez continued his resurgence by tossing 4.0 scoreless relief innings for the Bandits. Freure allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits over 4.0 innings.

Churling led all hitters by going 3-3 with a double. McKenna was the only member of the Bandits with multiple hits. The left fielder went 2-2 with two hit by pitches.

The River Bandits meet the Snappers in the third game of the series on Saturday night with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. The Bandits will turn to RHP Brett Daniels (3-4, 2.16) on the mound in a meeting with Beloit RHP Aiden McIntyre (2-4, 2.24).
