Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

In front of a sold-out crowd on Friday night, the Tri-City ValleyCats were unable to win their up-hill battle with the Lowell Spinners, falling to an 11-4 final score.

Enmanuel Valdez, Ramiro Rodriguez and Austin Dennis had banner nights at the plate, as the ValleyCats attempt at chipping away throughout the night came up just short.

Juan Robles started the game for Tri-City, allowing seven earned runs in his three innings of work to pick up the loss.

He was replaced by Carlos Hiraldo, who gave up the ValleyCats' final four runs (three earned) in three innings pitched.

Dennis, who was making his professional debut with the ValleyCats, had a night to remember.

After striking out in his first at-bat, Dennis grounded a run-scoring single into left field in the fourth inning for his first career hit and the ValleyCats' first run of the game.

Dennis also brought home the ValleyCats' final run of the game with a bunt single that allowed Enmanuel Valdez to bust home from third base.

Valdez, who was coming off of a three-hit day at the plate on Thursday, had another three-hit game for the ValleyCats.

He roped three doubles all into left field throughout the night, while scoring a run and swiping his team-best third stolen base of the season.

Rodriguez added a 2-for-4 performance, scoring two of the ValleyCats' four runs in the 11-4 loss.

Now both with records of 4-4, the Lowell Spinners and Tri-City ValleyCats will face each other in the rubber match of their three game series on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The ValleyCats will have RHP Bryan Abreu on the mound, opposite of RHP Hunter Haworth for the Lowell Spinners.

Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
