Colorado Eagles News Release
FORT COLLINS, CO - The Northern Colorado Youth Hockey (NCYH) Grizzlies and the Central Hockey League's Colorado Eagles have announced a joint relationship to promote youth hockey in northern Colorado.
"Developing a love for playing hockey starts with the younger players," said Chris Stewart, Colorado Eagles Vice President and Head Coach. "The Eagles players are very interested in playing an active role in the northern Colorado community. This relationship gives us the opportunity to become involved at the youngest levels."
"We are very excited about this new relationship", said Jamie O'Leary, NCYH Hockey Director. "Interest in hockey is at an all time high and we now have a strong way to promote playing opportunities to the youth of our community", he continued.
The joint relationship provides involvement opportunities at many levels by both organizations. Some of those opportunities will include providing intermission skating opportunities for NCYH Under-8 players at Eagles games, NCYH final tournament games played at the Budweiser Events Center, and guest coaching opportunities by Eagles players at NCYH. In addition, NCYH will help facilitate and promote summer hockey camps hosted by the Colorado Eagles.
"Endorsement and support from a successful, high-class hockey organization such as the Eagles provides an incredible opportunity for our kids", said NCYH Board President Steve Rodriguez, "I believe it will be a win-win situation for both clubs."
"NCYH is one of the premier youth hockey associations in Colorado. We are very pleased to be working with them", remarked eagles President and G.M. Ralph Backstrom.
The Eagles second season of play begins on October 15 and 16, 2004 against the Tulsa Oilers for two exhibition games at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. The regular season begins on the road at the Ford Center against the Oklahoma City Blazers on October 22, 2004. The Memphis RiverKings are in town for the home opener on October 29, 2004 at 7:05pm.
