Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
Corpus Christi, Texas: September 2, 2004 â The Corpus Christi Rayz and Amigo Broadcasting have agreed to terms on a two-year deal that makes KOUL 103.7FM the new radio home of the Corpus Christi Rayz. Rayz General Manager, Larry Linde and Amigo Broadcasting General Manager, Eddy Alonso held a press conference Thursday afternoon at the Rayz office to announce the deal. KOUL 103.7FM will broadcast all Rayz regular season games, playoff games as well as a weekly Coach's Show.
This arrangement allows the Rayz to broadcast all of their games â home and away â live and in their entirety. The Rayz will also carry pre and post-game shows during each game broadcast, as well as the weekly call-in Coach's show to be aired throughout the season.
"This is a great partnership," said Linde. "Amigo had everything the Rayz were looking for. They have an excellent reputation with the city, a strong signal and a place that the fans can always go to listen to Rayz hockey."
With a 100,000 watt signal, KOUL 103.7FM broadcasts throughout the entire Coastal Bend. KOUL has solidified itself as one of the premier country radio stations in Texas, but recently has broadened their format to make them an elite sports station as well. In the past year, Amigo Broadcasting has signed deals to broadcast baseball and football on their stations. The agreement with the Rayz gives KOUL and Amigo Broadcasting a local sports connection unrivaled in Corpus Christi.
"We loved the opportunity to get involved with the Rayz and show our support for sports in the community," said Alonso. "It is especially thrilling to be partnering with the Rayz with so many fun things being planned and the team being a part of the brand new arena. The Rayz are showing that they are very connected to the community this year, and so are we. This will be an exciting partnership for us."
Amigo Broadcasting is a staple of Texas radio as they operate state-wide through all of Texas. Amigo Broadcasting has been in Corpus Christi for four years, and currently operates with four stations in the Corpus Christi area â KOUL 103.7FM, The Beach 96.5FM, Club 98.3FM and La Mejor 105.5FM.
The Rayz will begin the 2004-05 season in Austin on October 22nd, and host the Laredo Bucks in the first ever event at the AmericanBank Center on November 5th and 7:05pm.
