Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, CO- The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League announced today the return of one of the top young players in the Central Hockey League from a season ago with the signing of forward Scott Polaski. The Eagles also added two goaltenders to the training camp roster, Tim Boron from Saint Cloud State, and former Washington Capitals second round draft pick Jomar Cruz.

Polaski, 24, finished tied for seventh in the CHL in rookie scoring last season with 41 points. The Colorado Springs native led the Eagles last season with a plus-23 while being one of only two rookies (Garrett Larson) to ever play in all 64 regular season games during their inaugural campaign for the Eagles. His 19 goals ranked him among the top 10 in the CHL for first year players and he finished fifth overall in the team's scoring department. As a rookie, Polaski added eight multi-point games were he tallied 19 points in those contests.

"Last year was a good start to my first full professional season and I am looking forward to improving on last season," said Polaski.

The former sixth round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2001, Polaski started his pro career in the American Hockey League with the Utah Grizzles following his senior season at Colorado College. The 6'2", 195-pound forward finished a stellar four-year career with his hometown Colorado College Tigers advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four before bowing out against the Denver Pioneers. In his tenure at CC he scored 19 goals, added 45 assists and totaled 64 points in his 157 career games while being named assistant captain during his senior season.

Joining rookie goaltender Stephen Siwiec at the 2006-07 training camp, will be netminders Tim Boron and Jomar Cruz. Cruz, 26, is a 1998 second-round draft choice of the Washington Capitals and he spent most of last season in the SPHL with Fayetteville and Huntsville. The 6'2" 200-pound goalkeeper also made a pit stop in the ECHL last season with the Pensacola Ice Pilots. He finished a four-year career in 2004-05 at the University of Manitoba where he appeared in 54 games. Prior to playing in college at the U. of M., he spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League, mostly with the Brandon Wheat Kings where he was a teammate of Eagles' defenseman Les Borsheim. As a rookie in the WHL he was an impressive 16-9-1 with a 3.05 goals against average.

Former Saint Cloud State Husky goaltender Tim Boron has joined the Colorado Eagles after forgoing his senior season at SCSU. Boron, the 6'0, 177-pound goaltender from Winnipeg, Manitoba appeared in 32 games as a sophomore. His 10 wins and .904 save percentage led the Huskies in 2004-05. As a freshman he split time with senior Adam Coole, and won five of his teams 18 games. Boron would have been a senior this season but with All-American goaltender Bobby Goepfert getting the lion's share of the starts, Boron elected to turn pro.

The Eagles are entering their fourth season of play at the Budweiser Events Center. Colorado has won back-to-back Governor's Cups as the regular season champions and they have won the Northwest Division three straight times. The Eagles single game tickets go on sale this Saturday, September 23rd at 10:00am at all Comcast Ticket Outlets and the Budweiser Events Center Box Office.
