Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN --- Fans will have the chance to get a sneak peak at the 2006-2007 Memphis RiverKings when training camp opens on Monday, October 9 at the DeSoto Civic Center. The RiverKings have announced that a total of seven training camp practice sessions will be open to fans and that their annual Fan Fest will be held on Tuesday, October 10.
"The RiverKings take pride in being a community team," Equipment Manager and Alternate Governor Dave Mattice said. "Having open practices is a way for fans and the community to get an early sneak preview of this year's roster."
That first practice session on Monday, October 9 will run from 10 a.m. to noon and will be open to the public. The Tuesday, October 10 session will be an evening practice from five to 6:30 that will coincide with the RiverKings Fan Fest. The Fan Fest will run from six until eight with doors opening at the DeSoto Civic Center just before the start of the 5 p.m. practice. All fans are invited out on that night to watch the team practice and enjoy a fun carnival atmosphere.
"Fan Fest will be a fun event for the entire family and another great way to see the team before the season," Mattice said.
People that have purchased season tickets will be able to pick up their tickets that night. Fan Fest will also include locker room tours, a player autograph session and a chance to purchase new RiverKings merchandise for the first time. The Bounz Moonbounce and RiverKings Slap Shot inflatables will be outside the arena, too. Mascots Sheldon and RiverThing will be there to mingle with the fans and the team will have several information tables on the concourse. The DCC Box Office will also be open extended hours for fans to purchase single-game tickets. Concessions will also be available. A complete Fan Fest schedule is below.
The training camp sessions on Wednesday, October 11; Thursday, October 12; Monday, October 16; Tuesday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 18 will also be open to fans and run from 10 a.m. to noon. The entire training camp schedule is below.
