September 20, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, Texas - The 2006 CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks announced today that they will take on the Austin Ice Bats on October 12th and 13th in a pair of preseason games. Both games will be on the road, with the first one taking place at the Arctic Wolf Ice Center in College Station, on Thursday, October 12th. The teams will meet again the next night in Austin. Tickets for the preseason game in College Station are now available by calling (979) 693-3900. The Bucks are offering a family four pack of season tickets for the 2006-07 CHL regular season, which works out to just over $7 a seat per game and is a 48 % savings off walkup prices. The Bucks lost 4-2 to Austin before a capacity crowd in College Station last year in the first ever professional hockey game in the Brazos Valley.

"We are really excited to return to the Arctic Wolf Ice center again," said Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski. "The facility is terrific and the response by the people in the Brazos Valley last year was unbelievable."

Tickets are $18 and the Arctic Wolf Ice Center can accommodate 1,000 spectators. Private boxes are also available for the game which will start at 7 p.m. Once again the number for tickets is (979) 693-3900.

The two year old Arctic Wolf Ice facility is the home of the A&M hockey program, which has non-varsity status, and provides residents of the Brazos Valley with public skating opportunities. The facility is co-owned by Bucks Chairman / Owner Glenn Hart.

"The hockey fans in the Brazos Valley are absolutely starved for high caliber professional hockey, and I am extremely excited to bring them another opportunity," said Hart. "Due to the unique tie in between the Bucks ownership group and the Arctic Wolf Ice Center's ownership group, coupled with their natural tendency to dislike anything from Austin, the Bucks have become the 'Home Pro Hockey Team' of the Brazos Valley area. The Bucks will definitely enjoy a 'home ice advantage'."

In addition the pair of preseason games will give the Bucks a chance to evaluate the roster.

"We'll get a chance to see our young players in action," continued Ruskowski. "We have a limited amount of time to see what they can do. These games play a critical role in our decision making process."

In the second preseason game the Bucks will take on Austin at the Chaparral Ice Arena on October 13th at 7:30 p.m.

The Bucks open training camp on October 9th at the LEC. The regular season begins on October 21st at Corpus Christi. Laredo will have their home opener against Rio Grande Valley on October 28th at the LEC.
