Eagles Pick up Point, But Fall to Steelheads 2-1 in Overtime

(Windsor, CO) - The Colorado Eagles fell to the Idaho Steelheads in overtime 2-1 on Wednesday night at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles outshot Idaho 30-14 in the contest, but the Steelheads scored in the first minute of extra time for the win.

After a scoreless first period, the second period was marked by a fight between Eagles forward Jesse Mychan and Idaho's Andrew Carroll. Mychan picked up an extra roughing minor on the play. The Eagles killed off the penalty boosting their already stellar penalty kill percentage.

At the end of two periods, the Eagles and Steelheads were scoreless. Colorado outshot Idaho 16-9 after the first 40 minutes of play.

The Steelheads took a 1-0 lead with a goal early in the third period when forward Colton Beck found an open spot in front of the net and placed the puck past Colorado goaltender Kris Lazaruk on the short side.

Patrick D'Amico evened the score for the Eagles notching a goal at the 16:01 mark of the third period, his second of the season. D'Amico scored from the side of the net after receiving a feed from fellow forward Joe Zarbo behind the net and sending the game to overtime.

It in didn't take long for the Steelheads to answer in the extra session, as forward Brandon Magee scored from between the circles 52 seconds into OT to give the Steelheads a 2-1 win.

The Eagles and Steelheads continue their three-game series Friday at the Budweiser Events Center. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
