Former K-Wing Makes NHL Debut with Vancouver

VANCOUVER, BC, CA- Alex Grenier, a former member of the Kalamazoo Wings, made his NHL debut last night with the Vancouver Canucks against the Winnipeg Jets inside the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

Grenier, 24, logged eight minutes of ice time, four shots, and a hit in a 4-1 loss on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-5 forward spent 37 games with Kalamazoo during the 2012-13 season, where he registered ten goals and 21 assists. A third round (pick #90) draft selection of the Canucks in 2011, Grenier spent two years in the QMJHL and a partial season in Austria before suiting up as a professional in North America in2012.

Last season with Utica, Grenier had career highs in goals (17), assists (26), points (43), and PIMs (71). Having started this season with the Comets, Grenier had registered two goals and seven points before being called up to Vancouver on Wednesday.

The Kalamazoo Wings head to Fort Wayne to take on the Komets on Friday, November 20, at 8:00 p.m. inside the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. All of the action can be heard on AM 1660 The Fan.
