Eagles Look to Finish Season on Winning Streak in Charlottetown
March 23, 2024 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Cape Breton Eagles News Release
With home ice almost certainly assured, the Cape Breton Eagles are looking to further move up the standings and head into the playoffs as a winning streak as they finish the regular season against the Charlottetown Islanders this afternoon. Heading into today's game, the Eagles' winning streak stands at eight games.
Currently sitting in fourth in the Eastern Conference, the Eagles can move up into third if Moncton loses in regulation, and the Eagles win in regulation or in overtime. Since fifth place RImouski cannot surpass the Eagles in the first tiebreaker of regulation/overtime wins, Rimouski would have beat Cape Breton in the goals for/goals against tiebreaker. Heading into today's game, the Eagles hold a +21 differential while Rimouski holds a +10 differential, making Rimouski finishing ahead of Cape Breton an improbable outcome.
Here's what else you need to know ahead of this afternoon's game!
