Colorado Eagles News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. -The Colorado Eagles (3-3-0-0) fought until the very end, but fell to the Ontario Reign (3-3-0-0), 4-1, Monday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Colorado struck first in a pivotal game six, as forward Chris Knowlton fired home a pass from linemate Vitalijs Pavlovs 7:47 into the game, giving the Eagles the early 1-0 lead. With 5:29 remaining in the first, Ontario struck back. Forward Judd Blackwater was left alone in the low slot, when the puck found his tape and he sent home the tying goal, evening the game at 1-1.
Ontario would answer on the power play with 7:26 remaining on a shot from defenseman Matt Register, his third goal of the series, giving Ontario the 2-1 advantage.
After a defensive miscommunication, Blackwater slung home a shot past Eagles netminder Clarke Saunders, extending the Reign's lead to 3-1 with 5:30 remaining. Colorado pulled Saudners while on the power play with 3:56 remaining, as Register scored his second goal on the night as he spun around on the goal line and buried the empty net goal to give Ontario their final 4-1 advantage.
The Reign kept their playoff hopes alive, forcing a Game Seven which will take place in Ontario tomorrow night.
