Salem-Keizer Volcanoes News Release
Dylan Davis, an outfielder from Oregon State, was the third round pick of the San Francisco Giants in the 2014 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. After playing nine games with the Arizona League Giants, Dylan Davis has made his highly-anticipated arrival here in Keizer, as he looks to spur the Volcanoes towards a second-half playoff run.
In his junior season with the top-ranked Beavers baseball program, Davis batted .283 with 14 doubles, seven homers, and a Pac-12 leading 64 RBIs. He leaves Oregon State's storied program fourth all-time in RBIs and second all-time in doubles.
One of Davis' best games of the 2014 season came at Volcanoes Stadium. Davis - who earned himself the occasional mid-week start on the mound for the Beavers - was the starting pitcher in a May 13th contest against the University of Portland. The right-hander tossed five innings of one-hit baseball in front of 4,226 here at the stadium. Davis showed his versatility in the contest, making a difference from the batter's box later in the game. With a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning, Davis launched this grand slam to lift the then-No. 2 ranked Beavers to an 8-4 victory.
In his short time with the AZL Giants, Davis notched 11 base hits, seven of which were doubles, to go along with eight RBIs. Davis was promoted to Salem-Keizer on August 6, joining the Volcanoes for their post-all-star-break playoff run.
Dylan Davis made his Salem-Keizer debut on Thursday, August 7th in the Volcanoes 9-5 win over the Boise Hawks.
