(Gesa Stadium - Pasco, WA) - Canadians SS Franklin Barreto went 4-for-5 at the plate as LHP Zak Wasilewski went five innings to help Vancouver open up a crucial three-game series in Tri-City with an 8-6 victory on Thursday night.

The Canadians stumbled out of the gates falling behind 3-0 heading to the top of the 4th inning as Dust Devils starter RHP Ryan Castellani retired nine of the first ten batters he faced while his offense scored a pair off of LHP Zak Wasilewski in the bottom of the 1st inning and a third run in the bottom of the 3rd inning when the Vancouver left-hander hit leadoff hitter CF Markus Derkes who later scored on a single off the bat of 2B Sam Bumpers.

Down by three, Vancouver would draw even in the top of the 4th inning with 2B Gunnar Heidt providing the big blow, hitting his 5th double of the season scoring both SS Frankiln Barreto and RF Chris Carlson.

SS Franklin Barreto's double in the top of the 5th allowed CF Roemon Fields to score just seconds after he grabbed a base hit and stole his franchise record 36th base of the summer to give Vancouver a 4-3 lead. Barreto would come in to count on a single off the bat of 1B Ryan McBroom who went 2-for-4 on the evening.

Vancouver would never trail from this point forward as the bullpen held the fort allowing LHP Zak Wasilewski his 3rd win of the summer against four defeats. Saint John, New Brunswick native RHP Andrew Case would go the final 1 1/3 innings to seal the victory and grab his second save of the season.

With the victory, Vancouver improves to 6-8 (.429) on the second half and 31-21 (.596) overall. The win moves the Canadians into a tie for second in the NWL North Division with Tri-City and remain two games back of Everett (8-6) who won in Spokane (4-10) on Thursday night.

The C's return to Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Sunday, August 10th at 5:05pm to open up a six-game home stand vs. Tri-City (August 10-12) and Everett (August 13-15). Vancouver announced on Thursday that the August 10th, 13th and 15th dates are all SOLD OUT!
