D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (August 8, 2011) - D.C. United today announced that midfielder Dwayne De Rosario has been named MLS Player of the Week for the second consecutive week by the North American Soccer Reporters. He becomes the first player to earn Player of the Week honors twice this season. De Rosario's honor follows a hat trick performance against his former team, Toronto FC, as United battled to a 3-3 draw. All three of De Rosario's goals came while down a man, following Bill Hamid's ejection in the 7th minute of play.

Since arriving at D.C. United, De Rosario has started each of the six matches he has played, registering six goals and one assist in 534 minutes of action.

The midfielder was acquired on June 27 from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for midfielder Dax McCarty. Prior to joining the Black-and-Red, De Rosario tallied three goals and five assists in 15 games (14 starts) for New York and Toronto FC.

Overall, De Rosario has nine goals and six assists in 1,827 minutes of play this season. He has played 21 total MLS games (20 starts).

Along with six MLS All-Star selections, De Rosario boasts four MLS Cups, two MLS Cup MVP awards and five selections to Major League Soccer's Best XI.
