Dust Devils Win Series in Front of Sellout Crowd

The Dust Devils had a huge fifth inning, scoring four runs to take their first lead of the game, and they never looked back Thursday night in defeating the Vancouver Canadians 9-3 in front of a sold out crowd of 3,816. The Dust Devils (5-3) compiled ten hits on the night.

Angel Mejia (1-0) dropped his season ERA from 12.00 to 7.88 on the mound Thursday, earning the win. The Dust Devils starter went five innings, giving up three runs on six hits. The righty also struck out three in the outing.

Canadians starter Jackson McClelland had a short outing, pitching three innings in the game. The right-hander gave up two runs, both earned, on four hits and one walk while striking out two batters.

Francisco Rios (0-2) took the loss in the game for the Canadians(3-5) in relief of McClleland. Rios pitched three and a third innings, giving up four runs.

One night after hitting his first home run of the season, Henry Charles was a factor again for the Dust Devils, driving in a run in the bottom of the 1st. Daniel Bravo joined Charles with an RBI of his own in the game.

Nick Vilter had a huge game for the Dust Devils, adding two RBIs in the winning effort. Mason Smith was a stat sheet stuffer during the game as he collected a triple, double, stolen base and two RBIs during the contest.

Juan Kelly led the offensive effort for the Canadians, collecting two hits and an RBI in the game.

The Dust Devils hit the road June 26th- June 30th for a five game road trip against the Eugene Emeralds. They will return home July 1st for the start of a three game series against the Everett AquaSox. The series opener next Wednesday will be Princess Night presented by Designer Shoe Rack.
