
Hawks Offense Sputters as Emeralds Take Series

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Hawks lost to the Eugene Emeralds on Thursday night by a score of 3-1, dropping their first road series of the season.
The Emeralds got on the board early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first off Hawks starting pitcher, Dylan Thompson. The right-hander from North Carolina made his second start of the season for the Hawks, pitching five innings while giving up three runs on four hits with five strikeouts and picking up the loss.
Justin Steele took the mound for the Emeralds and was perfect through three innings before allowing a leadoff single to Carlos Herrera in the fourth inning. Max George laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Herrera up before Kevin Padlo smacked a double, giving the Hawks their only run of the game.
Steele went on to pitch six innings, striking out six batters and giving up three hits and just the one run to pick up the win. Corbin Hoffner came in for the hold and Sam Wilson entered in the ninth to earn the save.
The Hawks travel north to Everett to face the Aquasox for a five game series beginning tomorrow night. Angel Lezama will take the mound for the Hawks against Lane Ratliff of the Aquasox.
Notes: With RBI hits in back-to-back games, Kevin Padlo in now tied for second for the most RBI's in the Northwest League.
