The Gwinnett Braves lost to the Durham Bulls 11-0 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park Monday night. Gwinnett (41-44) is in third place in the International League South, dropping to 10.5 games behind division leader Durham (51-33). The Bulls are now 5-4 against the Braves in Durham this season and lead the series 8-5 overall.

It Was Over When: In the bottom of the first inning the Bulls put four runs on the board. Justin Ruggiano singled in one run and Dan Johnson hit a three-run home run, his 21st home run of the season, to give Durham a lead they would never lose.

Braves Beat: On the Mound: Jose Ortegano got his fifth loss of the season going three innings while giving up seven hits, nine runs (8 ER) and one walk. Cory Gearrin finished with 2.0 IP, K, 1 R/ER and 2H. Following Gearrin, Cristhian Martinez, Vladimir Nunez and Michael Dunn pitched one inning each - holding the Bulls to only one more run. At the plate: Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 and extended his current hitting streak to 11 games and his season-best on-base streak to 25 games (6/9 - 7/5). Mitch Jones was 2-for-3 in the game.

The Opposition: On the Mound: Jeremy Hellickson earned his 11th win of the season going 6.0 IP with 5 H, 3 K and 4 BB. Brian Baker pitched the seventh and eighth, striking out three. Dale Thayer pitched a scoreless ninth to complete the shut out for Durham. At the plate: Johnson went 2-for-4 with two home runs and 4 RBI. Joe Dillon went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI.

On Deck: Gwinnett returns to Coolray Field Tuesday to face the Norfolk Tides in game one of a two-game series at 7:05 p.m. Braves LHP Mike Minor (1-0, 1.17 ERA) is scheduled to face LHP Zach Britton (0-0, 0.00 ERA) of the Tides.
