TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series from Alliance Bank Stadium (7:00 p.m.). The Herd won the series opener, 10-2, last night. The Bisons have now won five of their last six games, all against IL North division opponents. After this series, the Bisons return home for two games against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

vs. THE CHIEFS: The Bisons are 4-5 against Syracuse this season, but have won the last three contests. The Herd swept a two-game set from the Chiefs at Coca-Cola Field, June 29-30. Last night's win was Buffalo's first at Alliance Bank Stadium this year. Syracuse swept a two-game set at home, April 12-13.

ROLLIN' STONE: RHP TOBI STONER defeated Syracuse on Wednesday at Coca-Cola Field. The righty allowed four runs in five innings in a 9-4 victory. Stoner has worked five or more innings in 11 straight starts and 14 of 16 starts this season. He's second on the Bisons team with 62 strikeouts.

PADDING STATS: OF JORGE PADILLA enters tonight's game on an eight-game hit streak. The outfielder has averaged .406 (13-32) with three doubles, six RBI and eight runs scored during the stretch. The former Syracuse Chief has hit .500 (6-12) with three doubles and five RBI in three games against his former team.

RUN PRODUCER: INF MIKE JACOBS has plated seven runs in his last six games. The slugger is second on the Bisons with 43RBI on the season. Jacobs has reached base safely in his last eight games. Since June 27, he has averaged .290 (9-31) with four doubles, six walks and six runs scored. In that eight-game stretch, Jacobs has posted a .405 on-base percentage.

BULLY FOR THE PEN: RHP MANNY ACOSTA has been all but unhittable of late. The reliever has given up just two hits over his last seven appearances. Since June 20, Acosta has allowed only five base runners while striking out 11 in 7.2 innings of work. Acosta has converted his last three saves opportunities and is tied for second on the club with four saves on the season.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (46-36) defeated the Nationals yesterday by a 9-5 score. Former Bisons' INF IKE DAVIS hit his 10th home run of the season in the win while OF JASON BAY drove in four runs. New York had 14 hits in the victory. The Mets return home to face the Cincinnati Reds at 7:10 p.m. New York trails Atlanta by two games in the N.L. East division.
