Charlotte Knights News Release

FORT MILL, S.C. - In a match-up of All-Star pitchers the Charlotte Knights came up on the short end as they were one-hit by Tides starter Chris Tillman in a 2-0 Norfolk win.

Tillman was simply outstanding for the Tides as he allowed only a base hit and walk to Jordan Danks. The Tides defense played very well behind Tillman as the Norfolk right hander had just five strikeouts in the outing. The Tides were able to provide some run support early in the game when Rhyne Hughes hit a two-run homer off the Knights Daniel Hudson.

Hudson, who will be the starting pitcher in the Triple-A All-Start game, labored a bit through 5.0 innings. He threw 84 pitches through the first 4.0 innings, but did add to his league leading strikeout total by punching out six Tides hitters. Hudson took the loss, it was just his fourth of the season.

The Norfolk win was their third straight over the Knights. The game was also the final game of seven consecutive the two teams played against each other.

The Knights begin a two game series tomorrow at 7:15 PM against the Durham Bulls. RHP Carlos Torres (6-5, 3.29 ERA) will pitch for the Knights, the Bulls will start LHP Carlos Hernandez (6-3, 3.14 ERA).

The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
