Dupont Lifts Wolf Pack Late

Glens Falls, NY, October 12, 2013 - Brodie Dupont's deflection goal with 2:07 left in the third period gave the Hartford Wolf Pack a 3-2 win over the Adirondack Phantoms Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center, in the Wolf Pack's first road game of the season.

Dupont tipped a Tommy Hughes shot from the right-wing boards underneath the pads of Adirondack goaltender Cal Heeter for the winner.

Hughes also scored for the Wolf Pack, as did J.T. Miller, and Cam Talbot made 33 saves. Mark Alt and Ben Holmstrom had Phantom goals, and Heeter made 27 stops.

"It was a big road win for us, first time out this year on the road," Wolf Pack head coach Ken Gernander said. "We got our two points, killed some big penalties down the stretch despite getting victimized early on the PK. Cam made a few good saves in the third, and we got some offense from all different sources and everybody pitched in tonight."

The win was the Wolf Pack's third straight, and upped the club's record on the year to 3-0-0-1 for seven points. The Pack swept a home-and-home series from the Phantoms, having beaten Adirondack 5-4 in a shootout Friday night in Hartford.

The Wolf Pack got the game's first goal at 6:12 of the first period, with a line of Miller centering Marek Hrivik and Brandon Mashinter having a strong shift down low in the offensive zone. Hrivik passed the puck out from below the goal line and Miller scored his fourth goal of the season, sliding a low shot through Heeter.

The Phantoms would get the next two, though, to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

After Hartford was unsuccessful on the game's first two power plays, Adirondack capitalized on its first man advantage, after Conor Allen was sent off for holding at 12:56.

Alt tied the score at 14:35 with his first goal of the year, a shot from the left point that found its way through a screen and past Talbot.

The Phantoms then took the lead at 19:07, just after an Adirondack power play expired. Jason Akeson banged the puck toward the net from the right point, and Talbot seemed to think he had the puck covered, but Holmstrom was able to poke it past Talbot's right side and just inside the post.

The Wolf Pack recovered some momentum in the second period, outshooting Adirondack 12-8, and tied the game only 1:12 into the second.

Hughes scored his first pro goal at 1:12, taking a pass from Ryan Bourque and fooling Heeter with a shot from the right point.

The Pack were outshot 14-6 in the third, but the Phantoms could not solve Talbot before Dupont's late winner.

The Wolf Pack are next in action this Friday, October 18 at home, with the Manchester Monarchs coming to the XL Center for a 7:00 PM game. Once again this season, each and every Wolf Pack Friday-night home game features $1 hot dogs and $2 beers, through the start of the second period.
