October 8, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release

PORTLAND, Maine - Dunkin' Donuts shops in Maine announced today that they have partnered with the Portland Pirates on a program that will send one youth group to each of the Pirates 36 homes games this season.

The program, called the "Dunkin' Donuts Kids' Corner," kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 10 when the Pirates play their first home game against the Providence Bruins at 7 p.m.

Dunkin' Donuts is currently accepting submissions from youth and charitable organizations interested in attending a game via email at dunkinkidscorner@gmail.com.

If you know a deserving school, youth group, team, etc. just send an email that briefly describes the organization and why it should attend a game. Dunkin' and the Pirates will work together to select and notify the winners.

"This program gives our locally owned and operated Dunkin' Donuts shops another way to put smiles on the faces of kids throughout the state," said Dana Hackett, field marketing manager for Dunkin' Donuts in Maine. "Our franchisees have longstanding relationships with a lot of these youth groups. It's exciting to be able to give back to the communities we serve."

Each group selected will receive 20 tickets free of charge to a Pirates home game. The groups will also be announced and featured-alongside a Pirates mascot-on the videoboard at Cumberland County Civic Center.

"The introduction of the 'Dunkin' Donuts Kids' Corner' assists in our continuing effort to have a positive impact on the community," said Portland Pirates Managing Owner/CEO Brian Petrovek. "This new and exciting program will reward youth groups from around the area for their efforts and accomplishments. We are looking forward to recognizing these young fans at our games throughout the season and making sure they enjoy an entertaining evening with the Pirates."

All tickets will be available for pick-up at the Cumberland County Civic Center will-call window, unless otherwise noted.

The "Dunkin' Donuts Kids Corner" program comes on the heels of the successful "Dunkin' Dugout" partnership with the Portland Sea Dogs program that saw approximately 200 kids attend Sea Dogs games throughout the 2009 season.

The Pirates (0-1-0-0) return to action tomorrow (Friday) when they travel to Albany to face the River Rats at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.
