Canucks assign Shirokov to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks today announced they have assigned forward Sergei Shirokov to the Manitoba Moose.

Shirokov, 23, has appeared in three games with the Canucks so far this season. Last year, he played in 56 games with CSKA Moscow of the KHL where he recorded 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points, along with 36 penalty minutes. In 212 career games in Russia, the Moscow, Russia native has recorded 122 points (52-70-152) and 126 penalty minutes.

Shirokov was originally drafted by the Canucks in the sixth round, 163rd overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
