Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
LAKELAND, FL. - RHP Elvin Rodriguez stymied the Blue Jays offense as Dunedin fell to Lakeland by the final of 3-1. Rodriguez has yet to give up a run at home and notched his third quality start of the season. Elvin hurled six shutout innings, and struck out five. Righties Burris Warner and Billy Lescher combined for the hold and save in the win with the three pitchers retiring 14 consecutive Blue Jays hitters from the fourth to the ninth innings.
After Dunedin failed to score and left two runners on in the top of the first, Lakeland capitalized on some momentum and scored two runs courtesy of Kody Clemens two run single to make it 2-0 Lakeland. In the bottom of the inning, Clemens struck again and drilled an RBI double to left center allowing Brady Policelli to score to bring the Lakeland lead to 3-0.
In the top of the ninth, Ryan Noda smacked a double to right center and was driven in by Chavez Young's RBI single accounting for the lone run of the game for the Blue Jays. RHP Maximo Castillo finished on the wrong side of this one, tossing six quality innings and throwing a season high 95 pitches. Game two of the series will take place tomorrow night at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland. The first pitch is set for 6:00 E.T. The game can be heard across the Dunedin Blue Jays Baseball Network through TuneIn Radio with coverage beginning at 5:45 E.T.
