Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento River Cats (31-33) won 3-2 in walk-off fashion on Sunday afternoon against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (32-29). Outfielder Steven Duggar's fourth hit of the game chased home Orlando Calixte in the ninth to back another stellar outing from starter Daniel Camarena.
The River Cats found themselves in a pitcher's duel on Sunday, as lefty Daniel Camarena and Sky Sox righty Freddy Peralta traded zeros early and got through five innings with a 1-1 tie. Camarena struck out seven batters in 5.1 innings and allowed just one run, a solo home run in the fourth inning from Brett Phillips.
After the Sky Sox tied the game at two in the seventh inning, Duggar capped off a four-hit day with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give the River Cats their fourth walk-off win of the season. Duggar finished 4-for-5 with three doubles, a run scored, and the game-winning RBI.
Right-hander Tyler Beede (3-6, 6.08) takes the mound for the River Cats as they try to take three of four against the Sky Sox. Colorado Springs will counter with righty Adrian Houser (0-0, 3.60). First pitch tomorrow is at 7:05 p.m. PT. Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.FM.
Additional Notes
- Duggar's three-double game brings his total to 20 this season, tying teammate Austin Slater for second in the PCL. Duggar also hit three doubles in a game ten days ago in El Paso against the Chihuahuas.
- The bullpen combined for five strikeouts and one run allowed in 3.2 innings to keep the game close, helping the River Cats set the table for the ninth inning theatrics.
