
Ducks sweep Warriors for third straight time

(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 3, 2006) - The Ducks defeated the Road Warriors 12-4 in front of 6,177 fans at Citibank Park on Thursday evening. The win gave Long Island their third straight sweep of the league's travel squad and their ninth series sweep of the season.
The Ducks 12-hit, 12-run evening was led by Bryan Goelz, who finished the evening 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. On the night Erick Almonte, Bucky Jacobsen and Henry Rodriguez added two hits apiece. Eleven of the Flock's 12 runs came from Carlos Hernandez, Almonte, Jacobsen, Rodriguez and Goelz who drove in a pair apiece.
Pat Ahearne improved to 9-2 after allowing four runs, two earned on nine hits and a pair of walks while fanning six over 7.2 innings. Kevin Mannix came on in relief and tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings.
On Friday night, the Ducks travel to Bridgewater, N.J. to take on the Somerset Patriots at 7:05 p.m. Tim Cain (1-2) will take the hill for the Flock against Robert Averette (3-1). Chris King will call all of the action live from Commerce Bank Ballpark starting at 6:50 p.m. on WLIE (540 AM) Radio. After the three-game series with the Patriots, Long Island heads to Lancaster and Camden for three games apiece. The Ducks return home on Tuesday, August 15, for a three-game series with the Barnstormers.
