Camden, NJ - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 9-1 on Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series at Campbell's Field.

Camden took the lead in the second inning on a solo home run to left-center by Joel Guzman off of Ducks starter Billy Buckner. Long Island immediately tied the score in the third on Lew Ford's solo homer to left off of Riversharks starter Sean Gleason. It stayed that way until the sixth when three consecutive singles, including a RBI base hit from Dan Lyons, put the Ducks in front 2-1.

Long Island put the game out of reach with a seven-run ninth inning against Riversharks reliever Eric Smith. Ford was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Bryan Sabatella scored on a throwing error by Mike Costanzo, Jon Griffin and Lyons each had two-run singles, and Sabatella added a RBI single.

Buckner (1-1) earned the win, tossing five and one-third innings, allowing just one run on three hits and three walks while striking out three. Gleason (2-3) suffered the loss, yielding two runs on eight hits and four walks with six strikeouts in six innings. Long Island's bullpen combined to throw three and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball, allowing just one hit while striking out five.

Lyons, Griffin and Sabatella each had three hits and at least one RBI and one run to lead the Flock.
