Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
(Waldorf MD)---After two days of rainouts Bridgeport, and Southern Maryland played a doubleheader tonight at Regency Furniture Stadium with Bridgeport winning 3-1 in game one, and 2-1 in game two.
In Game one, Bridgeport got on the board first in the top of the second off an RBI double from James Simmons scoring John Alonso. The Blue Crabs answered in the bottom of the third inning on an error by the first baseman Andres Rodriguez dropping a pop up in the infield allowing Antone DeJesus to score to tie the game at one.
In the top of the fourth, Jobduan Morales doubled off the wall in straightaway center field. Two batters later with runners at first and second, Luis An. Rodriguez roped a single to center to score Morales. The next hitter Matt Wessinger advanced to first base on a fielder's choice allowing James Simmons to score to make it 3-1. The Blue Crabs were held scoreless the rest of the way, as Southern Maryland's offense managed just four hits.

Fred Lewis led off with a single to center, followed by an Osuna walk, and a Zach Wilson RBI Double to right center field to score Lewis to make it 1-0. Southern Maryland would leave the bases loaded though as starting pitcher Matt Iannazzo would work out of the jam.

Luce then stole second and later scored on a Sean Burroughs line drive single to right to tie the game at 1-1. A few batters later with the bases loaded, James Simmons singled back up the middle to score Dotel to make it to make it 2-1, as the Bluefish bullpen would hold it down the rest of the way.
Brian Grening pitched well for Southern Maryland going 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits, while striking out six and walking one. The offense for the Blue Crabs though left seven runners on base in the losing effort.
