Rome, GA - Filling in for Felix Doubront, who was scratched from his regularly scheduled start Thursday night, Ryan Colvin pitched did his part and pitched effectively. The right-hander allowed just one earned run on four hits and a pair walks while fanning five.

Unfortunately, neither the defense nor the offense backed up Colvin as two defensive mishaps led to three unearned runs off him and the offense failed to get on the board in a 5-0 loss to the Rome Braves.

The Braves plated what would be the eventual game-winner in the top of the second as Cody Johnson began the frame with a double and scored as Adam Coe delivered a two-out two-bagger.

Rather than retiring the side in order in the fourth, an Oscar Tejeda fielding error on the very first batter led to a whole heap of trouble for Colvin. The Braves plated one unearned run off Colvin before he exited with two runners aboard. Reliever Kyle Fernandes allowed both inherited runners to score, charging Colvin with two more unearned runs.

Offensively the Drive tallied as many hits as the Braves, eight (all singles), but were unable to score any runs. Seven different batters recorded a hit, with Kristopher Negron leading the way with two. With a leadoff single in the top of the sixth, Mike Jones extended his franchise record hitting streak to 22 games.

The Drive and Braves conclude their four-game series tomorrow evening with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Eammon Portice will toe the rubber for Greenville as Rome counters with southpaw Scott Diamond.

The Drive return home to Fluor Field on Saturday, May 3rd when they begin an eight-game home stand. For more information on single-game tickets, group outings, and luxury accommodations, visit www.GreenvilleDrive.com or call (864) 240-4500.
