Tulsa Drillers News Release
The Tulsa Drillers utilized some perfectly timed offense to claim a rain-shortened victory over the Springfield Cardinals Tuesday night at ONEOK Field. The Drillers broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, just before a downpour hit the Tulsa area. The game was unable to be restarted, but since 4 ½ innings were completed with the home team leading, it was ruled an official game with Tulsa claiming a 2-0 victory.

The game gave a premature ending to the series between the two teams. The Drillers will open a five-game, four-day series with Arkansas Wednesday night at ONEOK Field.
In Tuesday's finale, starting pitchers Jose De Leon and Jimmy Reed dominated until the Drillers rally in the fifth, and what proved to be the final inning.
De Leon allowed only one hit to the Cards, a leadoff single by Mike Ohlman to open the fourth. He walked three batters and struck out eight in his five innings of work, while claiming his first-ever win at the Double-A level. De Leon finished strong by striking out the side in the fifth.
Reed blanked Tulsa on only two hits through the first four innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth. , with a light rain falling, Ali Solis singled with one out and was sacrificed to second on a bunt by De Leon. Ronald Torreyes broke the deadlock with a double that scored Solis. Peter Lavin followed with another two-base hit to give the Drillers a two-run lead.
With Adam Law at the plate, the skies opened up. The umpires eventually called the game, giving the Drillers the win.
Tulsa will send Eric Stults (1-1, 5.00 ERA) to the mound in the opener against Arkansas on Wednesday. The Travelers will counter with Michael Brady (1-2, 2.31 ERA). Starting time is set for 7:05PM.
