Springfield Cardinals News Release

Tulsa, OK - The Tulsa Drillers took the finale of the series against the Springfield Cardinals, 2-0, in a rain-shortened five innings at ONEOK Field on Tuesday night. The Cardinals close the road trip by going 5-3 and are 10-4 through the first 14 games in June.

Cardinals LHP Jimmy Reed (L, 1-1) and Drillers RHP Jose De Leon (W, 1-2) battled back and forth with scoreless innings through the first four, before the Drillers (27-36) broke through in the bottom of the fifth. With one away, C Ali Solis placed an infield single to the left side. After De Leon bunted Solis over to second, SS Ronald Torreyes ripped an RBI double to crack the scoreless tie. With the rain intensifying, CF Peter Lavin pulled an RBI double of his own into the right field corner, bringing in Torreyes from second base. Midway through the at-bat of LF Adam Law, the rain began to pour down and the umpires called for the tarp, sending the game into a delay with the Drillers ahead, 2-0.

After a 33-minute rain delay, the umpires called the game and the Drillers collected the 2-0 win against Springfield (27-37), as the two teams split the series, two-games-to-two.
