
Doubleheader Sweep Extends Sea Dogs Win Streak to Six

Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs swept a doubleheader from the Hartford Goats Saturday night before a crowd of 6,068 at Hadlock Field. The wins extended Portland's win streak to six games. Portland took Game One 8-2 and followed with a 5-3 victory in Game Two.
In Game One Kutter Crawford struck out ten and Ronaldo Hernandez hit a grand slam leading the Sea Dogs to an 8-2 victory.
After scoring three runs in the first inning off Hartford starter Garrett Schilling, Schilling walked the bases loaded in the second paving the way for Hernandez's grand slam. The home run was his eighth of the season. Hernandez was 2-for-5 in the game with a season high 5 RBI.
Kutter Crawford (2-2) earned the win firing six innings holding the Yard Goats to two runs on three hits with a season high 10 strikeouts, one short of his career high of 11. The only runs scored off Crawford were solo home runs by Elehuris Montero in the second inning, his third of the series, and Max George in the fifth inning.
Joey Meneses' 11 game hit streak came to end as he walked twice and went 0-for-1 in the game.
Joan Martinez closed out the game with a perfect seventh inning including two strikeouts.
In the second game, Portland clubbed two home runs in a 5-3 victory.
Hartford jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Frank German walked the first batter of the game followed by back-to-back RBI doubles from Sean Bouchard and Taylor Snyder.
Portland responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Devlin Granberg singled, Triston Casas doubled, and Granberg scored on a ground out by Joey Meneses.
The Sea Dogs tied the game in the bottom of the third. Casas reached base and advanced to second on a throwing error by shortstop Jose Gomez. Casas stole third and scored the tying run on throwing error by catcher Greg Jones.
Hernandez and Ryan Fitzgerald opened the fourth inning with back-to-back singles. Hernandez scored when Jhonny Pereda grounded into a double play to give the Sea Dogs a 3-2 lead. Tanner Nishioka extended the led when he hit a solo home run to center field, his third of the season.
Ryan Fitzgerald added a solo home run into the right-field pavilion in the sixth inning, his seventh of the season.
Tyler Olson (4-1) got the win tossing a perfect inning in relief with two strikeouts.
Despite giving up a home run to Taylor Snyder in the seventh inning, Zack Kelly earned his third save of the season.
The Sea Dogs look for the six-game series sweep Sunday at 1:00 PM. Right-handed pitcher Josh Winckowski (4-1, 3.65) will start for Portland. Hartford will send righty Ryan Feltner (1-1, 2.89) to the mound. Radio coverage on the WPEI Sea Dogs Radio Network, built by General Dynamics/ Bath Iron Works, begins at 12:45 PM.
