
Yard Goats Snyder Hits League Leading 16th Homer in DH Loss

Portland, Maine - Yard Goats slugger Taylor Snyder cranked his league leading 16th home run in Hartford's doubleheader loss to the Sea Dogs on Saturday night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. The Sea Dogs defeated the Yard Goats 8-2 in the first game and 5-3 in the second game of the twin-bill. Elehuris Montero belted his 12th homer and Max George connected on his fifth homer as well.
In game one, Sea Dogs starter Kutter Crawford recorded 10 strikeouts in six innings and allowed just two runs as Portland defeated Hartford for the fourth straight game. The Red Sox affiliate scored three times in the first inning off Yard Goats starter Garrett Schilling. After Montero homered for Hartford in the second to make it 3-1, Portland hung five runs on the scoreboard in the second, highlighted by a grand slam home run by Ronaldo Hernandez.
In game two, the Yard Goats took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first inning off Portland starter Frank German. Sean Bouchard and Taylor Snyder had back-to-back RBI doubles to help Hartford to the early lead.
However, the Sea Dogs got a run back in the first on two hits and an infield grounder off Yard Goats starter David Hill. Portland tied the game on two errors in the third inning and then took a 3-2 lead on Johnny Pereda's double play grounder in the fourth inning. Later in the frame, Tanner Nishioka belted a solo home run to make it a 4-2 game. Portland added a run in the sixth inning on Ryan Fitzgerald's solo home run and it was 5-2.
Taylor Snyder launched his league leading 16th homer over the centerfield fence with two outs in the seventh inning. The infielder smashed a 96 mph fastball a distance of 414 feet with an exit velocity of 104 mph.
The Yard Goats conclude a six-game road trip against the Portland Sea Dogs on Sunday afternoon (1:00 PM) at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, July 13th (7:05 PM) and will start a six-game homestand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
