Double Thunder This Week

February 9, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Tulsa Oilers News Release

Road Ends: The Tulsa Oilers host the Wichita Thunder on $2 Tuesday. That is $2 admission to college students with college ID and beer and soft drinks for $2. The Oilers will then head south to Louisiana to take on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Friday at 7:05 p.m.; and a return engagement at Wichita Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Those two road games will end a stretch in the schedule in which the Oilers will have played eight of their last 10 games on the road. All three games can be heard on www.tulsaoilers.com.

Topple #1: The Oilers defeated the CHL's overall leader Colorado Eagles 2-1 on Tuesday. The win gives the Oilers a 2-1-0 record against Colorado. Tulsa is the only team in the CHL with a winning record against Colorado. The Oilers then headed to south Texas and dropped a pair of games, losing to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, 7-2 on Friday and to the Laredo Bucks 4-3 on Saturday.

Lots of Firsts: There were several notable firsts for the Oilers last week. Martin Gascon scored his first goal as an Oiler against Colorado. Defenseman Kevin Seibel scored the game winning goal in that game. Not only was that his first goal of the season, it was the first of his professional career. Topping that the next night, Ben Camper, making his professional debut, scored for the Oilers at Rio Grande Valley. Camper followed that with an assist at Laredo giving him two points in his two professional games.

Not By: The hair of his chinny, chin, chin. Jereme Tendler scored two goals against Laredo (his first two goal game of the season). His first goal came in the second period, when he scored after the puck had cut him in the chin. He took stitches and scored his second goal in the third period.

Tickets Here: Tickets for all Oilers games are available at the BOK Center box office or by calling 866-7-BOK-CTR (726-5287). Tickets can also be purchased on line at www.tulsaoilers.com and at area Reasor's and Homeland Grocery Stores.
