July 16, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, WI.- Ryan Donovan will represent the Green Bay Bullfrogs in this year's Northwoods League Marshfield Clinic Home Run Challenge on July 21st. Donovan has hit 6 home runs and 41 RBI, both team highs.
His most recent home run was July 15th when he hit a 3-run blast to deep right field against Duluth to give Green Bay a 6-0 lead in the game.
Donovan will also suit up as the first baseman in the all-star game, the only man at that position for the home South Division team playing at Wisconsin Rapids' Witter Field.
On the season Donovan also sports a .287AVG/.413OBP/.482SLG, is fifth in the league with 19 extra-base hits, and has played in all of the Bullfrogs' 49 games.
He joins a list of 18 total participants, nine from each division. His fellow South Division batters include Northwoods League home run leader Lucas Raley (Lakeshore-11HR), Madison's Anthony Gonsolin (10HR) and Jason Scholl (Kenosha-8HR).
In a head-to-head matchup, the South Division has a stark advantage so far with 72 home runs to the North Division's 39 round-trippers.
The competition will feature a full-game format in which each batter hits in a half-inning with six total outs. The player with the most home runs at the end of the nine innings will be crowned the Home Run Challenge champion.
Norh Division participants hit first, with the South Division hitters going in the home half of each inning. The Division with the most cumulative home runs will be announced as the team competition winner.
This is the first time the Bullfrogs have had a participant in the derby since Tripp Martin in 2013.
Single game tickets are on sale now. Visit www.greenbaybullfrogs.com to purchase tickets. The Bullfrogs' business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
